Walk through the ancient Roman Ruins of Serdica, Sofia and after along the Presidency building and the Batenberg square with its former Royal Palace Bulgaria, the building of the Bulgarian National Bank and the impressive National Theatre of Bulgaria constructed in Neo classic style. Pass by the Russian Church of Saint Nicolas with its fine exterior from the early 20 C. and reach the Church of Saint Sophia 5 C. built on the site of Serdica city necropolis. Visit the magnificent Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Church 20 C., the biggest church on the Balkan peninsula and the most impressive one with its unique interior and exterior decoration and murals.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon drive the famous Boyana Church, Bulgaria at the foothills of the Vitosha Mountain, included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage. The church is unique with its original murals dating back to the early 13 C. and is one of the finest examples of Bulgarian Medieval painting.
After drive to the Vitosha mountain and have an excellent view to the city.

The distance from Sofia to the Rila monastery is 130 km and takes 2.5 to 3 hours. Arrival back at your hotel at Sofia approximately at 16:00 – 17:00 in the afternoon.
Depart from Sofia and drive along picturesque landscape to the south. The Rila Monastery, the most impressive monument from the Bulgarian National Revival period rises amidst the rugged beauty of the Rila Mountain. Having survived the times with the self confidence of the most zealous guard of the Bulgarian spirit and language, it still fascinates present day visitor with the pure and harmonious line of the buildings exquisite colonnades, arches and vaults, spacious rooms richly decorated with murals and fretwork. This is a full one day trip to the town of Melnik situated in the southern part of Bulgaria near the Greek border. The distance from Sofia to Melnik is about 200 km and takes 3.5 to 4 hours depending on the road conditions. Departure is 08:00 in the morning from Sofia. Arrival is expected around 19:00-19:30.
Sightseeing information:
On the road see the beautiful landscape; pass through the majestic Kresna Gorge along the Struma River.
Melnik is the smallest town in Bulgaria, declared Architectural Reserve Museum town and center of red wine industry. Melnik is picturesquely situated between bar cliffs of sandstone, eroded into odd shapes.
Visit to the Kordopoulova House with beautifully decorated walls and ceilings in the rooms and in the main hall. Visit the wine cellar in the ground floor and have a welcome glass of red wine.
